Wendell Milliman Scholarship Fund
2009 Applicant Criteria

Applicants for the Wendell Milliman Scholarship Fund (WMSF) must:

1. Be the dependent child of a non-shareholder employee employed by Milliman, Inc. at the time the scholarship is awarded.

2. Be attending (as an undergraduate) or preparing to attend (as a high school senior) an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private college or university, as a full-time student at the undergraduate level, in the employee's home country.

3. Be majoring, or intending to major in mathematics, computer science, business, finance, economics, actuarial science or health sciences.

4. Be prepared to use the award in the 2009-2010 academic year.

Applications must include the following documentation and be POSTMARKED BY: February 27, 2009:

1. A completed WMSF application

2. A one-page list of activities and honors

3. Two letters of recommendation, one from an individual who can speak to the applicant's academic credentials and one from an individual not directly tied to school or college. Letters of recommendation may not be from an employee of Milliman, Inc., or a relative of the applicant.

4. An official transcript from the high school or college the student is currently attending

5. A one-page, double-spaced essay on the following topic: 'Describe your career ten years from today.'

At least one WMSF scholarship will be awarded in 2008. Full scholarships will be $7,500, which may be used for tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room and board. The Review Committee reserves the right to award fractional scholarships. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship committee's decision after April 15, 2009. The award may be renewed upon re-application and consideration with all other applicants in future years.

Copies of this application may be duplicated for distribution to other eligible students..

NOTE: If the name of parent is omitted or if that parent is not a non-shareholder employee of Milliman, Inc. then the application will be automatically disqualified.
