Employee Benefits Planning Association Scholarship

The Employee Benefits Planning Association (EBPA) provides an essential exchange of information for professionals in the employee benefits field. The organization's mission is to exchange information, advance knowledge and education, and foster sound principles, procedures and practices in the field of employee benefits plans.

Applicant Criteria:

Applicants for the Employee Benefits Planning Association (EBPA) Scholarship must:

Be a dependent child of an EBPA member in good standing Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 Be a Washington State resident, planning to attend an accredited institution for higher learning Be prepared to use the award in the next academic year

Applications must include the following documentation and be POSTMARKED BY March 31:

A completed EBPA Scholarship application
A one-page list of activities, honors and community service activities
Two letters of recommendation, one from an individual who can speak to the applicant's academic credentials and one from an individual not directly tied to school activities. Letters of recommendation may not be from a relative of the applicant.
An official transcript from the high school the student is currently attending
A one-page, double-spaced essay on the following topic: 'Describe your life or career five years from now'
A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application or Student Aid Report (SAR)

The EBPA will award a scholarship annually, based on the availability of funds and merit of applicants. The award amount will be $1,000, which may be used for tuition and fees, books and supplies, or room and board expenses. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship committee's decision after May 1. The award may be renewed upon re-application and consideration with all other applicants in future years. Academic achievement, leadership, and community service are key criteria.

Copies of this application may be duplicated for distribution to other eligible students. An on-line application is also available at College Planning Network's Web site (http://www.collegeplan.org), on the 'Guide' page under the 'Updates' section. All applications will be reviewed by the College Planning Network. Dependents of EBPA officers and board members are not eligible for an award.
