Philip B. Swain Scholarship


Dear Applicant:

In loving memory, the family and friends of Philip B. Swain have established a memorial scholarship to honor Mr. Swain's many years of devotion to the Seattle Public Schools and his commitment to serving his community. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Senior of the Seattle Public Schools who anticipates enrollment in the Fall of 2000 at a two or four year post-secondary institution.

A minimum of one (1) $1,000 scholarship will be paid directly to the financial aid office of the recipient's school in two equal installments and is renewable for up to four (4) years, provided the recipient remains enrolled as a student in good standing at that institution. Should the recipient transfer during his or her four years, the award may be transferred to another institution with prior written approval of the Alliance for Education.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

 

SELECTION OF RECIPIENT(S)

Selection will be based on applicant's academic achievement, service to community and financial need.

Selection criteria are as follows with a total of 100 points possible:
 Cumulative GPA 20 points possible
 Academic Awards Received  14 points possible
 Demonstrated Service to the Community  33 points possible
 Financial Need  33 points possible

 TOTAL  100
